Well, actually two and a half, not just two.
The half was today, Saturday, June 25. Instead of just waking up and packing and taking off, as we had planned, I woke up earlier than planned to a gorgeous day. Which resulted in Cristin waking up earlier than planned too, by my decision. So we had early breakfast at the Bijou Cafe and a beautiful walk over the steel bridge, then up the north side of the river, over the Hawthorne, and back down the south side to the condo.
That’s an iPhone picture of Cristin, from the north side back over to the south side, with the Burnside bridge on the left. I’m grateful she let me post this, her in her morning smiling self, clothes she calls pajamas, and glasses. She certainly did absolutely no primping this morning. And she was as gorgeous as the morning itself.
I drove up to Portland in a sort-of dream-like state on Wednesday afternoon, and Cristin kept me and the world safe by keeping me awake with a long conversation via bluetooth. We talked about things we had in common. She kept me company from the Corvallis turnoff past Wilsonville.
Juan had made ceviche. We had a nice walk up and down the river after dinner, then a terrible movie (well, half a movie, we couldn’t stand it so we turned it off). Thursday was wonderful: work, breakfast, long walk, work, walk to dinner, and then a good movie. And a lot of good talk too. Friday was similar: mini to service, breakfast, the full walk we did today as well, then a bit more work (the work in this context was writing for me, job stuff for her) and then a long walk, errands on foot, back to the condo, walk to dinner, and max back. And another really good movie.
Two and a half days to remember.

On a Saturday evening at the condo, still very new to us, we were settling and enjoying the late daylight hours of early July, when we noticed all the activity on the Broadway bridge. It turned out there was a political-bicycling event, hundreds of cyclists, finishing up a day’s ride crossing that bridge to get to the ending point in a park on the other side.
I didn’t have a video camera, but my tiny Canon does some video. This was taken from the balcony of the condo. And I’m sorry, it doesn’t play that well; it was a tiny camera, and the file logistics were troublesome too.

Vange, Megan, and I are up in the condo tonight, as I write this. We had a nice dinner at South Park, and now we’re looking at the sunset over the bridge.
